Summary :
The effect of diet on cardiovascular risk has been known for some time. However, what is the effect of nutrition on the risk of diabetes and on the components of the metabolic syndrome?
Prof. Pfeiffer reviews the results of the EPIC-Potsdam Study and other studies, as he reveals the components of our diet that appear to both positively and negatively affect the components of the metabolic syndrome and diabetes risk and discussess what dietary interventions may be of benefit in particular patient groups.
In addition, Prof. Pfeifer addresses so-called “designer” diets and the role of particular micronutrients in metabolism.
