  Biography  

Dr. Stewart Harris

Dr. Stewart B. Harris is associate professor in the departments of family medicine/epidemiology, with a cross-appointment in the division of endcrinology at the University of Western Ontario in London, Ontario. He holds the McWhinney Chair For Studies in Family Medicine. His major research interest focuses on Type 2 Diabetes in high-risk populations including Aboriginal Canadians, as well as translational research on improving the management of diabetes in the primary care setting. Dr. harris is a co-principal investigator of the Sandy Lake Health and Diabetes Project, an ongoing population-based epidemiologic and intervention study in the First Nations community of Sandy Lake, Ontario. He is a member of numerous national diabetes-related organizations, including the chair of the Clinical Practice guideline Committee and vice-chair of the clinical and scientific section of the Canadian Diabetes Association.
