Biography

	Dr. Sonia Anand Beginning in 1999, Dr. Anand joined the department of Medicine at McMaster University as an assistant professor of medicine. Her present research focuses upon determinants of vascular disease in populations of varying ancestral origin and the evaluation of antithrombotic therapies used in the secondary prevention of vascular events. Dr. Anand is presently the associate editor of Thrombosis Research and section editor of “Vascular Viewpoint” in Vascular Medicine. She continues to work with the Scientific Review Committee of the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada and with Peer Review Committees of the CIHR Institute of Aboriginal Peoples’ Health. In 1996, Dr. Anand received a Candian Institutes of Health Research Clinician Scientist Award phase I and currently holds the Phase 2 Award. In 1999 she received the Canadian Cardiovascular Society Young Investigator Award, and in 2001 she was the recipient of the Canandian Society of Internal Medicine Young Investigator Award. Most recently, Dr. Anand was awarded to Eli Lilly May Cohen Women’s Health Research at McMaster. Her work is widely published amongst acadmic and peer-evaluated journals and she teaches clinical epidemiology courses in methodology and cardiovascular disease at McMaster Unversity.
