Dr. Ken Williams
Ken Williams, MS CDP is an assistant professor statistician in the Clinical Epidemiology Division of the Department of Medicine, University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. The focus of Ken’s research has been the identification of individuals at high risk of developing diabetes and/or cardiovascular disease through the development of statistical prediction models. The results of his research have been published in several high impact journals. Since his appointment to the Health Science Center in 1996, he has played a vital role in managing and analyzing data from several NIH research grants: the San Antonio Heart Study, the Mexico City Diabetes Study, the Insulin Resistance and Atherosclerosis Study, the Family Heart Study, the Family Diabetes Study, and the Family Gallbladder Study. In the first 7 years of a 22 year career in the United States Air Force 1972-1994, Ken served as a computer systems officer earning the Certified Data Processor certification in 1979. After completing a Master of Science degree in Operations Research as a distinguished graduate in 1979, Ken served the remainder of his USAF career as a scientific analyst focusing principally on human resources issues such as promotions. In that capacity he was called upon to give many presentations to 3- and 4-star generals. Ken also holds a Master of Science degree in Management from Troy State University and a Bachelor of Science in Applied Mathematics from the Georgia Institute of Technology.
