Julio Rosenstock, MD, a board certified specialist in internal medicine and endocrinology and metabolism, is a Clinical Professor of Medicine in the Department of Internal Medicine at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas. He is also in endocrine practice and clinical research at the Dallas Diabetes and Endocrine Center. Dr. Rosenstock earned his medical degree at the University of Costa Rica School of Medicine. He completed a fellowship in endocrinology and diabetes at the Royal Postgraduate Medical School and Hammersmith Hospital in London and the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas.
Active in clinical research, Dr. Rosenstock has published more than 70 articles and 60 abstracts and contributed to eight book chapters on various topics in the field of diabetes, including hypertension in diabetes; diabetic neuropathy; nephropathy and glycemic control; blood glucose and genetic susceptibility; monotherapy and combination therapy in the treatment of diabetes; insulin therapy; nocturnal hypoglycemia; and management of diabetes in the elderly. His clinical and research activities have focused on intensive diabetes management strategies and novel therapies to improve glycemic control to prevent and retard diabetes complications. His work has appeared in such journals as Diabetes Care; JAMA; Lancet; Annals of Internal Medicine; Diabetes, Obesity, and Metabolism; and The American Journal of Medicine. Dr. Rosenstock served as a member of the editorial board of Clinical Diabetes and Endocrine Practice. He currently serves on the editorial board of Practical Diabetology, The Journal of the HispanoAmerican Biomedical Association, and Cardiovascular Diabetology.
Dr. Rosenstock is a member of the American College of Physicians, American Diabetes Association, Endocrine Society, American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists, American Federation for Clinical Research, and the European Association for the Study of Diabetes.
