Dr. Elizabeth Cummings
Dr. Beth Cummings attended medical school at the University of Western Ontario in London. She did her pediatrics residency at the IWK Health Centre/Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia. She began an endocrinology fellowship in Halifax and completed her pediatric endocrinology training at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, where she obtained a Certificate in Clinical Epidemiology. She has been on faculty at Dalhousie University and staff of the IWK Health Centre since 1999. She is assistant professor of pediatrics and head of the division of endocrinology in the department of pediatrics, and mother of two preschool age children.
Dr. Cummings does a combination of clinical practice, teaching and clinical research. Current research interests include prevention of type 1 diabetes, pubertal insulin resistance in type 1 diabetes, and pediatric osteoporosis. She was presented with the Silver Spoon teaching award by the pediatric residents in 2002.
