Dr. Bernard Corenblum
Dr. Corenblum is a professor in the department of medicine, the University of Calgary. He did his endocrinology and metabolism training at the University of Toronto, in the Clinical Investigation Unit, TGH, and was a MRC research fellow at the Banting and Best Institute. His clinical and research area of interest was in prolactin secretion and its disorders. With this entry into reproductive endocrinology, he developed a clinical and research interest in other aspects of menstrual disorders and infertility.
He developed the ovulation induction program for anovulation soon after returning to his native Calgary, and runs this program until today. In 1984 he established the fellowship training program in endocrinology and metabolism at the University of Calgary, and chaired the GTC until two years ago. For 11 years he chaired the undergraduate course in endocrinology and metabolism, until one year ago.
Soon after returning to Calgary, he developed the outpatient metabolic testing unit for diagnosis and therapy of patients with endocrine disorders, and continues to be the medical director.
His research interests are now directed to PCOS and its manifestations. This year he will publish his 100th peer-reviewed paper.
Sadly, his dream of becoming a tennis pro are rapidly disappearing.
