Andrew Karaplis is: Associate Professor of Medicine and Attending Physician, Department of Medicine, Division of Endocrinology, Jewish General Hospital; Director, Metabolic Bone Disease Clinic, Jewish General Hospital; Member, Division of Experimental Medicine, Faculty of Medicine; Associate Member, Department of Human Genetics, McGill University. He obtained his MD from McGill University and has continued at the university in various roles, including as the William Dawson Chair in 2002. He is a member of various professional societies, and has been an invited speaker at a number of international engagements. His current research is focused on the role of PTHrP and PTH in skeletal homeostasis and pathophysiology of osteoporosis and metastatic osteolytic lesions; PTHrP and PTH/PTHrP receptor in chondrocyte biology; and the role PHEX in phosphate homeostasis and bone mineralization.
